Movement and Growth at All HH Sites

posted on Monday, November 01, 2010

Two dominant themes at all three of our HopeHealth sites are movement and growth.

HopeHealth Edisto relocated to a new site in late September. Now housed at 1857 Joe S. Jeffords Highway in Orangeburg, HopeHealth Edisto will better accommodate patients. The new building also houses The Liberty Room, a conference center available for public use.

This new building is a sign of HopeHealths commitment to reducing stigma, promoting a healthy working environment, and improving our services to a growing community in need, said Sallie Bachman, Edisto site supervisor.

In Aiken, HopeHealth Lower Savannah will celebrate our one-year anniversary in our new building. In response to increased demand for support groups, Lower Savannah staff have added a second mens support group and a combined mens and womens support group. HopeHealth Aiken has also begun collaborating with the Medical College of Georgias Women of Color grant, which brings peer advocates into our clinic.

Less than two years after moving into our current location, HopeHealth Florence celebrates the completion of a new addition to our facility. The addition was partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and will go a long way to accommodating the influx of new patients requesting appointments for health care.

Providing for as many patients as possible is an essential aspect of our mission as a community health center: Uninsured patients in our service area rely on us for affordable medical care. Providing high-quality care for patients with private insurance or Medicaid/Medicare delivers billing income crucial to our operating costs so that we can continue to care for our uninsured, underinsured and low-income patients.

In the past year, HopeHealths staff has grown from about 50 employees to more than 70. Including staff at our subsidiary organizations (iH3 Wellness Center and The CARE House) increases this number to more than 100. The increased awareness of HopeHealth and subsequent demand for services allow us to directly contribute to our local economy by providing meaningful work opportunities for skilled individuals in our communities.
