Roche Carolina Raises $3,500 in support of Pediatric HIV/AIDS Services at HopeHealthposted on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 Each year, Roche Carolina employees hold an annual Children's Walk to raise funds for local and international Pediatric HIV/AIDS programs. This year, the team raised more than $6,000 and donated $3,500 to HopeHealth. HopeHealth provides services to all persons living with HIV/AIDS in the Pee Dee region and in addition provides a special quarterly Pediatric HIV clinic. Through a partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina, HopeHealth is able to provide families the opportunity to stay close to home and still get the necessary checkups, lab work, and care that they need to keep their children living healthy lives. In the past 10 years, the number of infected children has declined due to an increase in prevention, education, and treatment services offered to women in general and those living with HIV/AIDS that become pregnant. With modern advances in medicine and early intervention, it is now possible to halt the spread of HIV from a mother to an unborn child. While the rate of infection has declined, it has not been completely eliminated. It is only through support of donors such as Roche Carolina that HopeHealth is able to continue offering prevention and treatment services to those that are most vulnerable in our communities. Thank you, Roche Carolina! * This is a printer friendly version of the original page, made to save you ink and paper.
