Why Your Support Matters

Stories of Hope...click to read

Names and identifying details have been changed to protect our patients' privacy. These are true stories.

Jack
Jack is a father of two. He has battled hypertension, diabetes and depression for years. When he came to HopeHealth, his blood sugar was consistently over 200 mg/dL and his blood pressure was dangerously high as well. Having been turned away at other doctor's offices, Jack was unsure if he'd be able to get the help he needed. The skilled staff at HopeHealth recognized the severity of his symptoms and welcomed him as a patient. One of our nurse practitioners, Mary Mitchell, became his primary care provider. She helped him learn to manage his chronic illnesses. Renee Smith, our behavioral health counselor, helped Jack with his depression.

"When I came to HopeHealth, I was at a point in my life where I wasn't sure I wanted to go on," Jack said. "Coming to Hope helped me get back on my feet… It helped me be able to lead a life that my sons can be proud of."

Melissa (As told by one of our Medical Case Managers)
"Melissa is a devoted mother and very hard worker. When her car broke down, she was beside herself because she could not afford the $250 repair and was afraid she would lose her job. We were able to help her pay for the repair, which allowed her not only to keep her job and support her family but also to continue to come to HopeHealth for really important medical care. For many folks, $250 is a manageable sum of money, but for my client, it was a make-or-break situation. I'm glad we were able to help her make it rather than letting it break her."

Angela
Angela has no health insurance. It has been more than five years since she had seen a doctor to receive any preventive health care or screenings. She could not afford to pay out-of-pocket for these services. Angela became a patient at HopeHealth and qualified for our sliding fee discount program, and was able to get essential health care services. We also referred her to have a mammogram.

The mammogram revealed a frightening bit of news: Angela had breast cancer. Fortunately, however, it was caught early and treated.

"Coming to HopeHealth really saved my life. If I hadn't come, I'd be living today with undiagnosed breast cancer," Angela said.

The Hope Fund

Grant money and billing income help us cover the cost of care for the patients we serve, but there are always more needs than we cannot meet without your help. We have established The Hope Fund to provide additional support and to be able to expand the number of needy patients we serve.

Our fundraising events, corporate annual giving, employee giving program and individual donations support The Hope Fund. Through this fund, we are then able to provide the following to
our patients:

  • Eyeglasses and vision appointments
  • Specialty care, surgeries and other medical care we cannot provide in-house
  • Prescription drug assistance
  • Emergency assistance

If you would like to learn more about our efforts to provide these services to our patients, please join us at an upcoming event or learn how you can donate.
