HopeHealth celebrates national health center week

HopeHealth will celebrate National Health Center Week next week with employee-appreciation activities, advocacy efforts, events for local elected officials, and more.

National Health Center Week is held every August to bring awareness to the importance of community health centers like HopeHealth. The week-long celebration includes contributions from community health centers throughout the country, highlighting their missions and accomplishments while encouraging people to support their local centers.

This year’s theme is “The Chemistry for Strong Communities,” with HopeHealth focusing on what makes our work and the services we provide possible: the 600-plus employees who work at more than a dozen locations across five counties. Employee appreciation activities will be held throughout the week in addition to the annual Advocacy Wednesday campaign that encourages participants to become advocates for community health centers and register to vote. Employees will also be encouraged to take selfies and share them with the #NHCW22 hashtag during Social Media Day on Tuesday.

“HopeHealth firmly believes in National Health Center Week,” said Nicole Echols, director of external affairs at HopeHealth. “We are using this week as a way to amp up our efforts to promote advocacy and the important work we do across the state.”

When asked about the importance of the week, Carl Humphries, CEO of HopeHealth, stated, “I am so proud to serve at a community health center like HopeHealth.  We are 1 of over 1,400 community health centers in the U.S., and we serve a vital role in the health care of our state and nation. Not only do we provide affordable and accessible primary and specialty care for adults and children, we represent a multi-disciplinary workforce that is prepared to serve in the communities where we live. “

Being an advocate is as simple as letting your Congressional representatives know the importance of the issues impacting community health centers. To learn more about being an advocate for HopeHealth and other CHCs, visit hcadvocacy.org.
