Working hand-in-hand with the best chiropractor and physicians in Florence, SC, HopeHealth’s massage therapy therapists aim to achieve the best-possible health outcomes for patients.
Massage therapy compliments chiropractic care and traditional medicine. Massage therapy provides many benefits and is often effective in treating aches, pains, muscular inflammation, tension, postural problems, and tightness as well as physical and mental stress. It is a cost-effective approach to these conditions and is also an effective component of more serious conditions that require co-management. These conditions include, but are not limited to, numbness/tingling, radiating pain, fibromyalgia, fatigue, anxiety, chronic illnesses and depression.
At HopeHealth, massage therapy takes a clinically-based approach to treat conditions. This service is provided by compassionate therapists with specialized training in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and injury.
Patient visits begin with an initial evaluation, during which the therapist discusses symptoms and recommends a treatment plan. Techniques include, but are not limited to, soft tissue relaxation, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, positional release, trigger point therapy, and rehabilitative stretching procedures.
Massage therapy is great for relaxation and stress relief. There are also many associated health benefits, such as relief from aches, pains, muscular inflammation, tension, postural problems and tightness; increased joint flexibility; improved circulation. Just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic.
What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is a clinically-based approach used to treat conditions that have been diagnosed and prescribed by your medical provider. These conditions typically cause pain, weakness and or numbness. This treatment is provided by a therapist with specialized training in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and injury.
Difference Between Massage Therapy and Relaxation Massage
Massage therapy is medical treatment prescribed by your provider to treat a specific condition or injury. Relaxation massage is a service delivered to a client, usually in a spa setting.
Benefits of Massage Therapy
- Helps relieve nerve compression and entrapment
- Releases tight and sore muscles
- Decreases pain, stiffness and inflammation
- Improves posture and coordination
- Reduces pain and anxiety related to chronic illness
- Improves circulation
- Increases production of the “feel good” endorphins
Conditions Treated With Massage Therapy
- Back and neck pain
- Decreased range of motion
- Sprains and strains
- Sports injuries
- Headaches and migraines
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Foot pain
- Numbness and tingling in extremities
- Pain from Fibromalygia, Neuropathy, and other chronic illness
**When considering an alternative care treatment that complements conventional medical solutions, the out of pocket costs for most alternative treatments, such as medical massage therapy, can be less expensive than cumulative pain management costs and the related prescription medications.

What to Expect at Your Appointment
Plan Ahead – Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete your paperwork.
Arrival – Our front desk staff will greet you with a Patient Information Sheet, which is used to record medical history and other physical conditions we should be made aware of prior to treatment.
Evaluation – At your initial session, your massage therapist will talk with you about your Patient Information Sheet and any symptoms you’re experiencing to determine how to treat you. If you were referred by a medical provider, those orders will also be reviewed and included in the treatment plan.
Treatment – We want you to be as comfortable as possible as you enter our massage room, so it will be up to you to decide how much to undress for your treatment. You will be left alone in the room to undress to your comfort level and make yourself comfortable under the clean sheet and warm blanket. The table is heated and can be adjusted to your preference. Expect a tranquil and comfortable environment during your massage, with relaxing music (unless you request no music) and no distractions.
