Infectious Disease Services
A History of Compassionate Care
HopeHealth was founded in 1991 as a support group to those
affected by HIV/AIDS in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. In
the mid-1990's, we began to receive federal Ryan White Care Act
funds to provide medical care and medical case management to those
living with HIV and AIDS. In 2005 and 2006, we expanded our service
area to include both the Edisto and Lower Savannah regions of the
state, and are now responsible for the well-being of all HIV/AIDS
patients in 12 counties in the state.
Our Service Area
- Pee Dee Region: Florence, Darlington, Marion,
Marlboro, Dillon, Chesterfield counties
- Edisto Region: Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg
counties
- Lower Savannah Region: Aiken, Barnwell,
Allendale counties
Prevention and Outreach
Our commitment to HIV/AIDS treatment begins with prevention. We
provide free walk-in HIV testing at our sites and go out into the
community to provide free testing to the public. These tests are
confidential, and can be completed (including results and
counseling) very quickly.
Other prevention efforts at HopeHealth include community
education and outreach to at-risk populations in our service
areas.

Intake and Referrals
For those who have received an HIV-positive diagnosis, we strive
to provide a patient intake process that addresses not only the
physical health concerns of the newly diagnosed, but also the
emotional, spiritual and financial health of our clients. No one
should have to go through this diagnosis alone, or without adequate
information about managing this disease. Our medical case
management staff connect their clients to essential services and
arrange medical appointments, transportation, and intake procedures
for various programs. We also coordinate mental health care and
support groups to provide compassion, encouragement and empathy to
our patients and clients.
If you have been recently diagnosed with HIV or are
a referral source for HIV/AIDS patients, please
contact our case management supervisor to learn about the intake
process:
