This Valentine’s Day, give your heart a little love. Schedule an appointment with your primary care provider to check:
• Cholesterol & triglycerides
• Blood sugar levels
• Blood pressure
While you cannot change some of the factors that impact the health of your heart, such as age, family history, and race, others, you can. Ways to help keep your heart healthy include:
• Address sleep apnea issues
• Quit smoking and avoid second-hand smoke
• Take medications as prescribed
• Incorporate more plant-based proteins into your diet
• Lose weight if overweight
• Stay physically active – recommendations for adults are a minimum 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity each week, or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity
