HopeHealth seeks participants for diabetes prevention program
HopeHealth in Kingstree is looking for at least 10 individuals to participate in a year-long program designed to help people prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.
New to HopeHealth in Kingstree, this successful national program has been offered at the HopeHealth Medical Plaza in Florence for more than two years and has helped many patients diagnosed with prediabetes make positive life-style changes. These changes have helped participants significantly reduce their A1c, or average blood sugar level, lose weight, and increase their activity.
Participants meet weekly for the first several months and learn proven strategies to make small life-style changes that can cut the risk of developing diabetes by more than half. Eligibility requirements include:
- 18 years or older
- a body mass index, or BMI, of at least 24 kg/m2
- a diagnosis of prediabetes
For more information on eligibility or participating in the program, call Sonda Jett-Clair, chronic disease prevention coordinator, at 843-432-3717.
