HopeHealth’s Diane Davis named Outreach Worker of the Year

FLORENCE, S.C. (December 28, 2018) – Diane Davis, community outreach coordinator for HopeHealth, has been named Outreach Worker of the Year by the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association.

Presented at the annual SEA Retreat, the award recognizes Davis’ work in three counties: Clarendon, Florence, and Williamsburg.

Calling Davis “a truly worthy recipient”, Dr. Vicki M. Young, SCPHCA chief operating officer, presented Davis the award noting “the honor acknowledges someone who goes beyond the norm to improve access to health care; possesses great problem solving skills; demonstrates helpfulness in their outreach efforts; and is responsible for bringing patients to their health centers.”

Davis coordinates HopeHealth volunteers for about 40 health fairs and screening events at churches, community centers, schools, and other organizations every year. Under her leadership, HopeHealth has administered thousands of free screenings across the three counties; screenings that provide Davis the opportunity to talk to attendees about the importance of getting into care before becoming sick or having symptoms.

“Diane Davis came to HopeHealth almost six years ago with extensive experience and knowledge about community health centers from her employment with Black River Healthcare,” said Tiffany Straus, director of communication at HopeHealth. “She has a strong passion for spreading the health center message throughout the areas that we serve and helps individuals navigate the first steps of enrollment whenever that need exists.”

Additionally, Davis serves on multiple community collaborative committees that help support HopeHealth’s advocacy efforts, and has taken a front seat in educating event attendees about the importance of being advocates for their local health center. Each month she guides attendees to vendor tables at a monthly First Friday event for the homeless in Florence and, since August, has single-handedly registered more than 200 new community health center advocates.

Davis said that none of her accomplishments would be possible without the support of HopeHealth employees, like Renee Brown, a patient account representative, who volunteer their time to help and provide screenings at health fairs.
