HopeHealth hosted Community Day with LaNorris Sellers on Friday, July 12, at Nubian Experiences Salon and Barbershop. This event was part of the Heart Healthy Barbershop Tour, sponsored by TD Bank, which provides free blood pressure screenings and heart health education at different barbershop locations.

The event featured special guest LaNorris Sellers, Quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks (previous Quarterback of the South Florence High School championship team). Sellers met with attendees, signed autographs, and shared his tips for living a heart-healthy life. Community health worker Terrance Legette also provided information about cardiovascular wellness and blood pressure management.

On the importance of the event, Legette shared, “The Healthy Heart Barbershop Tour provides an opportunity for men to speak about health and well-being in an open forum. The barbershop provides a safe haven for men and allows the opportunity to shift the focus of conversations to include health.  I feel this is one of the best ways to reach the men in our community to provide health education and tools, and also link them to a health care provider.”
