Dr. Behling joined HopeHealth in September 2011 and serves as the organization’s chief medical officer. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1991 and completed his residency at McLeod Regional Medical Center, where he went on to practice family medicine for 20 years before joining HopeHealth.
He serves the community by organizing and participating in quarterly mission trips to Belize, Central America, where health care is not accessible to much of the population. At HopeHealth, Dr. Behling leads a medical team comprised of more than 90 providers who care for 50,000 patients. He administers the provision of services such as primary and preventive care, chronic disease management, and health education. Under his leadership, HopeHealth sites have received Patient Centered Medical Home recognition from NACQ. His advocacy of patient-centered care has led the organization to integrate primary care with behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.
