This week, HopeHealth joins health centers across the country in recognizing the powerful impact community health centers (CHCs) have made over the past 60 years.
Did you know?
CHCs provide quality, affordable health care to people in both rural and urban communities who might not otherwise receive it. Today, more than 32 million Americans are patients of nearly 1,400 community health centers at over 15,000 service delivery sites.
Here in South Carolina, 23 health centers serve as the primary care home for over 430,000 patients every year. HopeHealth became a community health center in 2007 and is now one of the largest centers in the state – delivering compassionate, whole-person care to 85,000 active patients!
Why are we unique?
Health centers like HopeHealth are more than doctors’ offices. We serve as anchors in our communities, offering integrated services that address not just physical health, but also emotional and social needs all within one organization. We provide care regardless of a patient’s insurance status or ability to pay, and the majority of our board of directors is made up of patients, ensuring our work stays grounded in the needs of the people we serve.
