Medical Students

About the Experience

HopeHealth offers a wide variety of options for Medical Student Rotations. We have Family Medicine, Outpatient Internal Medicine, Behavioral Health, as well as specialties such as Endocrinology, Rheumatology, and Infectious Disease.

Our partnerships with local residencies give medical students rotating with HopeHealth a unique opportunity to potentially work alongside residents.

The HopeHealth organization is one that focuses on patient-centered care. Our integrated approach to health care truly places the patient at the center of care. This focus is shown in our graduate medical education department by encouraging interprofessional learning.

We hope to share with the medical students the strengths of a Federally Qualified Health Center and how we strive to serve our whole community.

Richard Smith, DO Provider

Specialty: Internal Medicine

"Being a preceptor for Graduate Medical Education is a chance for me to help shape the medical community we live and work in. Residents and students who rotate at our organization are exposed to a wide variety of patient types. They also learn different services that are available to patients, as well as how working with an interprofessional team can drive quality patient care."

Hear From Our Students

Mary Kathryn McGregor

University of South Carolina School of Medicine

"During my third year of medical school, I rotated in multiple different areas at HopeHealth including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and psychiatry. The staff were excellent and made me feel like a part of their organization. I was able to see and participate in the care of a very diverse patient population and learned a lot about the different resources available to uninsured and underinsured patients. I was able to participate in a research project to look at the different social determinants of health that were present in the patient population which opened my eyes to the different barriers to care that patients are experiencing. My experience helped to shape me as a future physician by making me more aware of the many different aspects of patient care and how I as a physician can help patients outside of the clinical environment. "
